Actor Will Ferrell tasted some of Pittsburgh’s Italian heritage this week when he visited Alla Famiglia restaurant.

Restaurant officials said Ferrell visited the Allentown restaurant Tuesday and posed for a photo afterward.

“We were honored to host Will Ferrell for an unforgettable meal,” owner Jonathan Vlasic said in a statement. “It’s always exciting to welcome guests who appreciate the passion and tradition behind our dishes.”

Ferrell, a comedian who came to prominence on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in the 1990s, has starred in several movies over the past few decades, including “Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights” and “Elf.” There was no mention of why Ferrell was in town.

Alla Famiglia opened in 1997 along East Warrington Avenue. Its menu features authentic Italian cuisine including seafood, veal, steaks and homemade pasta.

“Thank you, Will Ferrell, for dining with us,” the restaurant wrote on Instagram. “Lots of laughs and good stories over meatballs and pasta.”

So, what did Ferrell order?

Chicken cacciatore, according to the restaurant.
