Three Rivers Arts Festival announces musical lineup, new layout
The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will have a new location for the main stage and an expanded layout of the artist market.
The Dollar Bank main stage will be relocated to Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Stanwix Street to give more access to a grass area and nearby food and drink options, as well as riverfront view. The annual 10-day event is June 2-11.
The artist market once again will be displayed throughout the Cultural District and on both sides of Fort Duquesne Boulevard between Sixth and Ninth streets. More than 300 artists locally and across the country will be selling handmade gifts, jewelry and paintings and showcasing various art mediums.
“Our featured concerts run the gamut this year, representing hip hop, pop, funk, jazz classical, rock and more,” Sarah Aziz, director of festival management for host Pittsburgh Cultural Trust said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to present this incredible and diverse mix of celebrated musicians in the heart of the Cultural District — free and open to everyone.”
The lineup of free music begins with singer KT Tunstall, known for her song “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See.” Tunstall will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on opening night, June 2. Other artists include Galactic featuring Anjelika Jelly Joseph, Rising Appalachia, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Lizz Wright, Red Baraat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mo Lowda & The Humble, Chali 2na and Cut Chemist and the Taj Mahal Quartet.
Dollar Bank president and CEO James McQuade said in a statement that bringing hundreds of thousands of people together Downtown for this event, which is the unofficial kickoff to summer, is an “illustration of our commitment to enriching the lives of the people in our communities.”
A complete lineup will be announced in May. Look for updates here.
