Eagles add Pittsburgh show to Long Goodbye tour
Legendary band the Eagles have announced the addition of a Pittsburgh stop on The Long Goodbye — The Eagles’ Final Tour.
The group will play PPG Paints Arena on Sunday, Oct. 15, along with fellow Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame group Steely Dan, which is commemorating its 50-plus year career.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. July 28.
The lineup for the Eagles tour includes Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, who is founding member Glenn Frey’s son. Glenn Frey died in 2016.
Live Nation said it was adding shows because of ticket demand, with the tour expected to continue into 2025.
The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, with six No. 1 albums and five chart-topping singles. They have won six Grammy Awards and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.
The band’s “Greatest Hits 1971-1977” remains the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38 times platinum. “Hotel California” is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26 times platinum. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two Grammys for the songs “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”
The Eagles last appeared in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena on March 26, 2022, and performed the entire “Hotel California” album. According to setlist.fm, the group has played Pittsburgh 15 times since their first performance here in 1972 at the then-Stanley Theater (now the Benedum Center).
