Post Malone performs during his Runaway Tour stop at PPG Paints Arena on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020.

Popular rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer Post Malone (Austin Richard Post) has announced his return to Pittsburgh in 2022 as part of his “Twelve Carat Tour.”

Produced by Live Nation, the tour will stop at PPG Paints Arena on Sept. 28.

Malone, sporting his numerous signature tattoos, last performed in Pittsburgh just before the pandemic on Feb. 24, 2020 – also at PPG Paints Arena – attracting a large crowd as part of his “Runaway Tour.”

His new 33-city North American tour begins Sept. 10 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Post recently released his fourth full-length album, “Twelve Carat Toothache,” which includes hit songs “Cooped Up” (with Roddy Ricch) and “One Right Now” (with The Weeknd).

On “Twelve Carat Toothache” Malone expresses his hatred of being famous.

Earlier this month, Mikael Wood of the Los Angeles Times called it “perhaps the most self-loathing album by any conflicted pop idol since Kurt Cobain, whose biggest hit Malone nods to right at the beginning: ‘You’re the superstar/Entertain us,’ he sings in opener ‘Reputation,’ a bleary piano ballad that goes on to enumerate the many ways he’s failed to live up to his venerated position.”

Interestingly, Malone has a tattoo of Cobain’s face on one of his knuckles.

However, Wood goes on to conclude that the disc does have its redeeming qualities.

“The album’s heavy gloom lifts a couple of times, most notably in ‘I Like You (A Happier Song)’ where Malone and Doja Cat trade flirtations amid a beachy summer-vibes arrangement.”

Tickets for all shows go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
