Ringo Starr plays as part of a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock in Bethel, N.Y., in August 2019.

To quote one of Ringo Starr’s best known songs, “you know it don’t come easy.”

Starr has announced that he is postponing the 12 remaining June dates on his 2022 tour schedule, including his concert scheduled for Saturday at PPG Paints Arena, after two members of his All Starr band tested positive for covid.

The Pittsburgh show and other dates will be rescheduled for September, Starr said, but specific makeup dates have not been announced.

According to an announcement on Starr’s website, Edgar Winter and Steve Lukather are the two band members who tested positive.

After it was revealed that Winter had tested positive on June 7, Starr said the All Starr band would continue its tour. But after Lukather also tested positive on Saturday, the group announced it would reschedule its remaining June dates.

The band was about halfway through its 22-show run.

“We are so sorry to let the fans down,” said Starr. “It’s been wonderful to be back out on the road and we have been having such a great time playing for you all. But as we all know, covid is still here and despite being careful these things happen.”

It’s the second time in two years that the former Beatle has had to postpone a Pittsburgh show. Starr and his supergroup were originally scheduled for a June 20, 2020 date in the Steel City that was delayed due to the pandemic. In addition to Winter and Lukather, the All Starr Band consists of Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette and Hamish Stuart.

“I want to thank the fans for their patience, I send you all peace and love, and we can’t wait to be back in the fall,” Starr said.
