Sting coming to Pittsburgh with PSO
Grammy Award winner and Kennedy Center honoree Sting will perform his greatest hits with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in January, the PSO has announced.
Music fans know Sting – born Gordon Sumner — as the front man for the ’80s new wave band The Police from 1977 to 1984 before embarking on a successful solo career.
Sting was inducted into the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police in 2003. With The Police and as a solo artist, he has sold over 100 million records.
He also is a successful movie actor who has appeared in “Dune,” “Plenty” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” among other films.
The concerts are scheduled for Jan. 9 and 10, 2023, and will include symphonic arrangements of Police songs such as “Roxanne,” “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” and “Every Breath You Take,” as well as songs from Sting’s solo career such as “Englishman in New York,” “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You” and “Fields of Gold.”
The concerts will start at 7:30 p.m. at Heinz Hall.
Tickets go on sale Aug. 8 for Sting’s Fan Club members, Aug. 15 for Pittsburgh Symphony subscribers and Aug. 22 for the general public. Prices range from $99 to $350, with VIP tickets available at $450 and $750.
Tickets for the general public will be available through the Heinz Hall Box Office online at www.pittsburghsymphony.org, by phone at 412-392-4900 or in person at 600 Penn Ave. in Downtown Pittsburgh.
