Extra ticket release, lottery coming for ‘Hamilton’ in Pittsburgh

If you are looking for “Hamilton” tickets and are seeing the “No Availability” notice on the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust website, don’t despair.
“Additional seats will be made available for sale closer to the engagement,” said Marc Fleming, the Trust’s vice president of marketing, communications and Broadway programming. “We encourage people to please feel free to check back at their convenience.”
The hit musical is returning to Pittsburgh for performances Feb. 22 through March 13 at the Benedum Center in the downtown Cultural District.
For those with a gambling spirit, there will be another way to try for tickets.
“There will be a lottery for this engagement with $10 seats for each event. Details will be announced next week,” Fleming said.
Telling the story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through the lens of modern musical styles including hip-hop, R&B and jazz, the fast-paced, high-energy “Hamilton” also had a sold-out run in Pittsburgh in January 2019.
“It has been the most popular and the fastest-selling performance in the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series,” Fleming said.
Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also played the starring role on Broadway, “Hamilton” currently holds the record for most Tony Award nominations with 16, resulting in 11 wins in 2016. It also won numerous other awards, including Drama League, Grammy and NAACP Image awards, along with the Pulitzer Prize for drama and special Kennedy Center honors.
For those tempted to buy tickets through a resale site, producer Jeffery Seller advises caution. Those tickets could be very expensive or fake.
“It’s tempting to get tickets any way you can. There are many sites and people who are selling overpriced and, in some cases, fraudulent tickets,” he said. “For the best seats, the best prices and to eliminate the risk of counterfeit tickets, all purchases for the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh engagement should be made through trustarts.org.”
