‘Hamilton’ cast reunites to sing for young fan

Poor 9-year-old Aubrey’s dream of seeing “Hamilton” was dashed by coronavirus.
But thanks to social media and some kind hearts, the young fan got something far, far better.
By now, you’ve likely heard about John Krasinski’s “Some Good News,” a low-budget, weekly show on YouTube that shares only positive, feel-good stories.
In his latest episode, the former “Office” star ended his broadcast by interviewing young Aubrey, whose birthday present of seeing the Tony-winning Broadway musical in Jacksonville was preempted by the coronavirus lockdown.
He learned of her situation from her mom’s tweet to playwright/star Lin-Manuel Miranda about having to miss the show.
@Lin_Manuel We were supposed to see Hamilton in Jacksonville tonight—DD’s 9th bday present (seeing Hamilton has been her dream since she saw her 1st Broadway show last year), but we’re home watching Mary Poppins Returns instead. At least we’re safe & healthy.

Krasinski contacted Aubrey’s mom and set up an interview for his show.
After listening to Aubrey’s sad tale, Krasinski told Aubrey that after the whole lockdown was over he intends to send her and her family to New York City to see “Hamilton” on Broadway.
And since Aubrey was clearly a fan of “Mary Poppins Returns,” Krasinski introduced the young girl to the magical woman herself.
That’s when Miranda “Zoom bombed” the conversation — with a pretty amazing gift himself.
“I think we can top that right now,” he said. “If you can’t go to ‘Hamilton,’ we’re bringing ‘Hamilton’ to you.”
Cue the music, and over a dozen original cast members — Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson and many others — performed the show’s opening number, “Alexander Hamilton” — Aubrey’s favorite.
“It was really amazing and I didn’t feel like I was awake when it happened,” Aubrey told NBC News. “Once I saw the video, I knew I was awake.”
WOW!!! THANK YOU @johnkrasinski @somegoodnews @Lin_Manuel!!! Aubrey’s still asking if she was dreaming. ❤️
