Have you bought a new Ford and then lost your job? You can return it under a new program.

On Monday the car company launched the Ford Promise program, which lets buyers who purchased or leased a vehicle through Ford’s finance arm to return the vehicle within the first year if they lose their job. Customers have 30 days after losing their job to return their vehicle.

The Ford Promise program includes vehicles from 2019, 2020 or 2021 model years and they can be new, used or certified-preowned. It apply to vehicles purchased through Sept. 30.

The program only covers personal purchases, not commercial or fleets.

According to the company, Ford Credit will value the vehicle using the National Automobile Dealers Association average trade-in value, reduce the customer’s outstanding balance by that amount and waive up to an additional $15,000.

Customers will have to cover the rest of the amount due.
