Aiello's expands hours in Shaler
Shaler residents can now have Aiello’s pizza for lunch.
On July 12, the Aiello’s Shaler location officially kicked off its expanded hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on those days and serve complete pies as well as individual cuts.
Cathy Aiello Willis, who co-owns the pizza restaurants with her husband Travis, said they’ve extended hours because Shaler residents have been asking for it and Aiello’s has been able to add staff.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to add more hours on here later but right now that’s all we can do,” she said. “The first day wasn’t super crazy but there were a lot of phone calls asking if we were open for lunch.”
“The location that we’re in now (in Shaler) means something to us because my dad, who started Aiello’s in Squirrel Hill in 1978, wanted that spot we opened in the north since I was a little kid. When we had the opportunity, my husband said ‘Look, your dad wanted this spot,’ so we went for it. So many people that grew up in Greenfield or Squirrel Hill that moved to the North Hills are excited that we’re there. It’s nice.”
Aiello wants folks to know that the Shaler location is breaking with a long standing tradition at its Squirrel Hill location by now accepting credit cards as well as cash.
“We get a lot of calls about that,” she said.
