Raising Cane's will open first Pittsburgh location in South Fayette
The popular and super-specialized fried chicken chain restaurant Raising Cane’s has finally found a location for its first Pittsburgh restaurant.
Nine months after revealing its plans to open its first restaurants in Pennsylvania in 2022, Raising Cane’s has announced it will be moving into The Piazza in South Fayette. The Piazza is a new 50,000-square-foot retail development currently under construction by Burns Scalo Real Estate Services.
“We’re excited that Raising Cane’s is joining The Piazza’s growing roster of tenants,” said James Scalo, CEO of Burns Scalo Real Estate in a news release. “Raising Cane’s will be a key addition to the center’s collection of restaurants and experiences.”
Raising Cane’s is expected to open the location in early 2023. It’s a growing fast food entity with corporate offices in Dallas and Baton Rouge and nearly 700 restaurants in 35 states. It has a devoted following of customers known as “Caniacs.”
In December, Dustin Shearer, Raising Cane’s vice president of restaurants, told the Tribune-Review Raising Cane’s formula for success is making quality chicken finger meals better than anybody else can.
“The food is amazing,” he said. “The centerpiece of our entrée is how many chicken fingers would you like?”
The chicken fingers come in a three-piece meal, a box combo with four and a “Caniac” with six.
“That’s all we do,” Shearer said. “We also have a sandwich, and we have great sauce.”
South Fayette Township communications director Andrea Igler said Raising Cane’s will be a significant addition to the community.
“South Fayette Township has been trying to encourage businesses to come in that are a little different or unique to the area and this is a great example of one of those since it’s the first location in the Pittsburgh region,” Igler said.
She added that since word got out that Raising Cane’s is coming to South Fayette, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response from the community.
“There has been tons of positive response on social media with a lot of comments from people saying they can’t wait to visit the restaurant when it opens,” Igler said.
The South Fayette location is one of more than 20 new locations Raising Cane’s is opening in Pennsylvania.
