Dr. Pepper-flavored beef jerky? Let’s give it a try.

Dr. Pepper and dried beef… two great tastes that taste great together?

Let’s find out.

Thanks to my 12-year-old son — who will apparently try soda-flavored beef, but not just a regular hamburger — the TribLive Taste Test team has once again reconvened to try out Jack Link’s Dr. Pepper-inspired beef jerky snack stick.

I’m almost certain my son gave this to me as a joke, because he knows how much I dislike Dr. Pepper. But perhaps the herbs and weird medicine-y taste that I hate so much in a sweet beverage will work better in a savory snack.

Here are the basic stats on the Dr. Pepper snack stick from Jack Link’s:

• Fat: 24g

• Sodium: 870mg

• Calories: 290

• Protein: 11g

• Cholesterol: 55mg

• Carbs: 6g
