Kennywood Park’s latest ride, Spinvasion, is the first multi-action spin ride of its kind in the United States.

Kennywood is getting a new ride next year, and it promises to be out of this world.

The amusement park announced Tuesday an intergalactic multi-action spin ride called Spinvasion will become the centerpiece of the park’s new alien-inspired Area 412 section. According to a press release, Spinvasion will provide an “electrifying combination of speed and gravity.”

It will debut in the spring of 2023.

Kennywood General Manager Mark Pauls said Spinvasion is a truly unique attraction. Riders will strap into their individual aircraft and then swing in front of an intergalactic space mural, crisscrossing with other pilots, flying sideways at certain points parallel to the ground. In a release, the park said the experience is enhanced with the illusion of close encounters with other riders.

“Spinvasion is a first-of-its-kind attraction, which offers our guests something they can’t get at any other park in the country,” Pauls said.

The park’s Area 412 will also include a new look to the Cosmic Chaos ride and an improved retail shop.

In conjunction with the announcement, Kennywood is launching its Black Friday Season Pass Sale and tickets and passes for the Holiday Lights event, which will illuminate the park beginning Saturday through Jan. 1.
