Westmoreland Cleanways plans seasonal cleanups, collections
Ready to tackle that spring decluttering and cleanup?
Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling is issuing reminders and planning several events to help with recycling and beautification efforts.
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will coordinate the Great American Cleanup of PA through May 31, an effort to clear roadways of trash and litter.
Recruit friends and colleagues and register for a project at gacofpa.org. PennDOT or Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling can provide supplies.
Electronics for recycling — televisions, computers, anything with a cord, according to the center’s release — are accepted at the center, so if your basement or garage is brimming with similar gadgets, drop them off at the Unity site.
The center also accepts many other hard-to-recycle items, such as paper, cardboard, tires, scrap metal, Freon appliances, fluorescent light bulbs and used motor oil.
Community spring clean-ups, including televisions and other electronics, are set as follows, according to Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling:
• City of Arnold, May 4
• East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, May 1-4
• Fairfield Township, date to be announced
• City of Jeannette, first Monday of each month
• Kittanning Borough, date to be announced
• City of Latrobe, May 18
• Manor Township, Armstrong County, May 13-18
• Salem Township, May 18
Check with municipalities for hours and locations.
