Man who died in North Park crash identified


Police believe driver suffered a ‘medical event’

A man from Swissvale has been identified as the driver who suffered a medical event before dying in a crash in North Park on Saturday.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man as Timothy Costello, 76, of Swissvale.

According to Allegheny County Police, Costello suffered a medical event before crashing near the Parish Hill Barn on Walter Road in McCandless shortly before 9 a.m.

The nature of the medical event was not disclosed. No other vehicles were involved.

Costello died at the scene, police said.

A woman who was a passenger in the car was taken to a hospital in stable condition, county police said. Her name was not released.
