Two people were found shot dead in a car that crashed in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood Thursday night, a police spokesperson said.

A child was found unharmed in a car seat and was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, according to police spokesperson Emily Bourne.

Pittsburgh police responded to a collision with possible entrapment in the 5200 block of Dearborn Street just after 8 p.m. Bourne said a sedan struck a parked SUV head on.

Bourne said a woman who had been driving was found dead just outside the driver’s door, and a man was found dead in the front passenger’s seat.

Both had been shot in the back of their head, Bourne said. They were later identified as Dameon Hill, 35, of Garfield, and Taquaila L. Daniels, 24, of the city’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood.

The child, a boy believed to be about 2 years old, was in a forward-facing car seat. He was taken for medical evaluation.

The early investigation indicates that the suspect may have been inside the vehicle, Bourne said.

There were initial witness reports of a male spotted fleeing the scene after the collision, and Bourne told WTAE a shell casing was found in the car.

Police were checking for any footage from nearby doorbell cameras.

The investigation is continuing.
