2 men arrested following McKees Rocks shooting, police pursuit
Two men are facing several felony charges after police said they were involved in a shooting in McKees Rock and then led police on a car chase that ended in Robinson.
Police identified the suspects as Steven Bryant Jr., 28, of Pasadena, Md., and Gaj Walker, 32, of Pittsburgh. Officers shot at the car on two occasions after it almost struck officers, and Walker was grazed by one of the bullets, according to Allegheny County Police.
Police from the Allegheny County Housing Authority and McKees Rocks responded to a reported shooting around 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Bell Avenue. They found a woman with shrapnel wounds on her left shin, left hand and left cheek. Police said she was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Police said they identified the suspect’s vehicle and spotted it just before 3 p.m. in McKees Rocks. Bryant was driving it at the time, police said.
Several officers tried to stop the vehicle, but were unable to do so and a chase ensued. The car nearly struck a police officer, prompting two officers to fire on it, police said.
Later, as police in Robinson tried to use a spike strip to stop the car, it nearly struck an officer and the officer fired one shot at the car, police said.
The car eventually stopped in the 100 block of North Petrie Drive in Robinson and the two men ran. They were arrested in the woods a short time later.
Bryant, who was grazed by a bullet, was treated and released from a hospital after the incident. Both men were being held Friday in Allegheny County Jail.
Both men are facing charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy. Bryant also is charged with aggravated assault to a law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to elude police and reckless driving. Walker also faces drugs and weapons charges and a count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
