3rd carjacking in a week reported in Shadyside
Pittsburgh Police responded to an armed carjacking and robbery in Shadyside on Tuesday night, marking the third carjacking reported in the neighborhood within the last seven days.
At 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday, police officers responded to the 5900 block of South Alder Street, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Police said a man told officers he had exited his vehicle to check on a headlight while in the parking lot of an apartment building when a man came up behind him.
The perpetrator pointed a gun, and instructed the man to flee the scene and leave his keys to the vehicle, according to authorities.
Police said that no one is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday’s carjacking comes after two separate carjackings happened on Sept. 29. An SUV was stolen late at night on College Street, just a block away from the incident on South Alder, and another carjacking occurred early morning on South Highland, about three blocks away.
