Riverview school board candidates Stefani Nycole Garibay, Wendy Wilton, Brian Hawk and Jeanine Hurt-Robinson were leading in a race for four four-year seats, according to returns from the Allegheny County Office of Elections.
Garibay had 1,577 votes. Wilton had 1,553 votes. Hawk had 1,536 and Hurt-Robinson had 1,527.
Democrat Laura Jacko had 1,439 votes and board president Arlene Loeffler was listed last with 1,333 votes. There were 25 write-in votes.
Garibay and Loeffler were listed on both ballots. Wilton and Hawk were listed as Republicans.
These figures were with just under 89 percent precincts reported online as of Nov. 3.
Allegheny County Spokesperson Amie Downs said situations in which online numbers are not fully updated following election day happen every election.
“All of the precincts have reported,” Downs said via email Nov. 3. “However, when the judges of elections close the machines, sometimes they do so with the thumb drive still inside. It is sealed and locked and if they do not realize before that, they are unable to remove them.
“Therefore we have to wait until the machines return to the warehouse. All of the counting was complete and all of the precincts reported in. The numbers and additional information will be updated through the return board process. The information on the website are unofficial results. It is the return board process which actually counts, audits and reconciles the votes.
“They’ll be done in order. I don’t know if they plan to update the site on a daily basis but we will provide an overview on Friday (Nov. 5, when the Return Board is sworn in). The updates are being provided on the website.”
