Dean Streator holiday concert
The Dean Streator holiday concert is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Bethel Park Community Center.
Featured will be Community Band South, directed by Jim Bennett and Max Gonano; Bethel Park High School’s Top 21 Vocal Ensemble, directed by Todd Kuczawa; Southminster Presbyterian Church Bell Ringers, directed by Richard Pinkerton; and Christmas tree cookies from Bethel Bakery.
The program is sponsored by the Bethel Park Community Foundation and is free, although contributions in support of the foundation’s grants programs are welcome.
Harmony Singers holiday concert
The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh will present a holiday concert, “Sing of a Merry Christmas,” under the direction of Cynthia G. Pratt at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Brightwood Christian Church, 5044 W. Library Ave., Bethel Park.
Selections from the concert include “Christmas Is Coming”, “Sing This Night with Joy” and “What Will Santa Claus Say?”
The concert will include favorite carols and holiday music. A basket raffle will be included.
The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering to benefit the charitable and entertainment efforts of the Harmony Singers will be accepted.

‘202 Years of Artists’
The South Arts members’ meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 on the main floor of the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, Bethel Park.
The theme is “202 Years of Artists,” featuring questions and answers with longtime members Jean Benson, age 104, and John Delmonte, 98. Jean is a talented tole artist who continues to teach her craft at the schoolhouse. John, a former art teacher, has a studio in the upstairs of the schoolhouse and continues to paint and keep a sketchbook.

Live Well Bethel Park
The Live Well Bethel Park speaker series continues on Dec. 14 with a program on Supporting Mental Health in Youth Athletes.
The NCAA released a study finding that exhaustion, anxiety and depression still are about twice as high as pre-pandemic levels among college athletes. Bethel Park High School Head girls lacrosse coach Becky Luzier said that young athletes also face pressure on and off the field. She’ll lead a discussion on the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and how to seek treatment, along with how to support your young athlete.

‘Spirit of Christmas’ program
South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park will present a “The Spirit of Christmas” program at the 10 a.m. service on Dec. 18. Everyone is welcome.
The church also invites members of the community to a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. and Christmas family service at 10 a.m.
South Hills Lights Chanukah event set for Dec. 19
The annual South Hills Light event celebrating Chanukah is scheduled for 5 p.m. Dec. 19 in the parking lot of Dormont Pool, 1801 Dormont Ave.
Featured are music, face painting, a glow-in-the-dark tent, dougnuts, a gelt drop and the lighting of a giant Menorah.
