Allegheny County police are investigating three deaths reported at a home in Carnegie on Saturday.
The two men and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene in the 500 block of Main Street at 7:10 a.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiners’s office.
The victims were identified as Jennifer Geisler, 26, and Michael Beaver, 44, both of Atlasburg, which is an unincorporated community in Smith Township, Washington County.
The third victim was identified as Mathew Pelkofer, 37, of Wexford.
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on the victims to try to determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
Carnegie police Chief Jeffrey L. Kennedy said his officers responded to a call for a group of people who were unresponsive at the home.
“The man living there said they had been partying, using drugs and was concerned that he couldn’t get them to respond,” the chief said. “Three of them were deceased and two were taken to the hospital. I have no doubt that if the other two didn’t get medical attention when they did, they also would have passed.”
The chief did not identify the victims who survived.
Kennedy said it appeared that the the group was using cocaine, but did not yet know if contained other chemicals.
“The county is handling the investigation and will conduct the tests on the substance, but for three people to die from it, my initial suspicion is that it was laced with something,” said Kennedy.
County police declined to comment on the investigation.
