Though school is out for a few more weeks, some Bridgeville-area children spent last week learning about the human body through Carnegie Science Center’s Science in the Summer program at Bridgeville Public Library.
The theme for this summer’s program is “The Science of Me.”
Students learned about the circulatory system through various exercises. They also examined a sheep’s heart and simulated how health problems are diagnosed using a salad spinner centrifuge and fake blood samples. Other topics covered were digestion, the brain and DNA.
Science in the Summer is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and administered by the Franklin Institute in partnership wth the science center.
The free program, for those entering second through sixth grades, will be visiting South Fayette Township Public Library from Aug. 13-16.
