Bridgeville Council welcomed three new members at its reorganization meeting last week.
Mayor Betty Copeland gave the oath of office to Jason Ferri, Shane Franchick and Jason Sarasnick on Jan. 2.
Council also selected Joe Verduci to serve as council president and Bruce Ghelarducci as vice president.
In other business, council reappointed members to various boards and commissions.
Elizabeth Bellaver, Dale Livingston and Mike Tolmer were appointed to terms on the borough’s planning commission until January 2028.
Lin St. Clair and George Aspiotis were appointed to the borough’s zoning hearing board for terms that expire January 2029.
James Haley was reappointed as vacancy board chairman, and Nino Petrocelli, Sr. was appointed to the parking authority board for a term that expires January 2029.
Council reappointed the law firm Gaitens, Tucceri and Nicholas as borough solicitor and the firm LSSE Civil Engineers and Surveyors as the borough engineer.
Council also approved a resolution regarding the police pension fund. The move, according to manager Joe Kauer, is an annual item for when the actuary for the borough’s pension fund completes calculations based on the amount of state aid Bridgeville received for the pension plans to determine the employee contribution rate paid by full-time police officers.
This year, the police officers contribution rate to their pension is reduced from 8% to 3.5% of their wages.
