Former Carlynton student graduates from West Point

Cadet Jacob Edward Bickus, a former Carlynton High School student, graduated from West Point.

Cadet Jacob Edward Bickus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bickus of Crafton , graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 25.

Bickus graduated from Carlynton Junior-senior High School in 2015. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in nuclear engineering. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army within the Army Aviation branch. Jacob was the recipient of the Lincoln Labs fellowship and will continue his education at MIT, seeking a master’s degree in nuclear engineering. Following grad school, he will report to Fort Rucker, Ala., for his first assignment.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor and country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the Army.
