A Scott Township native currently serving in the U.S. Navy continues to make an impact, this time at a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.

The Navy reported that Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Joseph Dezamits participated in activities with students at the Kawenu Primary School, Port Vila, Vanuatu, during a community outreach event July 18.

The outreach is part of the Navy’s Pacific Partnership. The Pacific Partnership is the Navy’s largest humanitarian and civic assistance mission with partner-nations across the Indo-Pacific.

Held annually, the mission is designed to strengthen relationships and improve U.S. and partner-capacity to deliver humanitarian assistance and disaster-relief preparedness, according to the Navy.
