Two new small businesses, Recon Brewing and MindBody Yoga + Barre, will open at The Crossroads at Hastings development – the former site of Mayview State Hospital – this year.
Recon Brewing opened in 2016 in Center Township. According to a news release, the Hastings location will be the brewery’s third location. It has already partnered with Charter to operate a location at The Crossroads at Meeder in Cranberry. Construction is underway, and the new facility will open by the end of 2021.
“Everyone’s looking for a place to belong, and when I take a walk through the neighborhood at Meeder the homeowners go out of their way to make me feel like it’s my home too,” Recon co-owner Dave Bestwick said in a news release. “So, when the opportunity presented itself to be a part of The Crossroads at Hastings community, we jumped at the chance.”
MindBody Yoga + Barre formed in 2020 and grew from a collection of outdoor classes conducted during the pandemic to a small business employing eight instructors that focuses on wellness and mindfulness. It is set to open this summer.
“Hastings has an element of peacefulness, tranquility and calm,” said owner Carla Higgins. “When you drive into the neighborhood, you’re surrounded by greenery and trees. It just feels like you’re leaving the suburbs behind.”
In addition to Recon Brewing and MindBody Yoga + Barre, The Crossroads at Hastings is already home to the OTB Bicycle Cafe.
“We are thrilled to provide our neighbors with a unique neighborhood experience while continuing to support locally owned small businesses,” said Rob Bowman, president of Charter Homes & Neighborhoods. “Bringing Recon and MindBody Yoga to South Fayette embodies our promise of quality neighborhoods where you can walk to it all.”
