Crawford Pool in Glenshaw will open at 11 a.m. June 13, according to a post on Shaler Township’s website.

Just last month, Shaler commissioners decided to refund residents who had purchased season passes because they didn’t know when the area would go green. At that time, the commissioners said that if the pool opened, those who purchased passes originally at a discounted price would still be able to get the discount.

However, pool memberships are available to Shaler Township residents only.

Due to the restrictions and guidelines surrounding covid-19, the post lists several changes to the 2020 season, including:

  • There will be no daily admission/walk-up sales. Residents must purchase either a full season or multi-visit membership. Senior citizens must also register for a two-year membership.
  • All members, including senior citizens, must register for a session online prior to visiting the pool. Sessions are limited to 200 people each and members are limited to one session per person per day. Sessions are from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 2-5 p.m. or 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  • The pool will not offer swim lessons with the exception of Water Babies. Registration for Water Babies, as well as Water Aerobics, will open June 12.
  • Lounge chairs will not be available, but patrons may bring their own chairs.
  • The slide and diving board will be closed.
  • Lockers/changing areas and restroom facilities will be limited.
  • The Kiwanis Club Snack Shack will be closed for the 2020 season. Patrons are permitted to bring their own water/beverages in small coolers, but no food is permitted.
  • Patrons will have five minutes to exit the pool at the end of each session to allow the pool staff adequate time to sanitize the area before the next session begins.

Memberships go on sale on June 5. For more information, visit https://www.shaler.org/241/Crawford-Swimming-Pool.
