Shaler Area seniors could benefit from a pasta dinner fundraiser hosted Sept. 11 by the Glenshaw Century Club.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit future scholarships for area seniors, Century Club’s Susan Ball said. The event, catered by Heavenly Cuisine, will be 3 to 7 p.m. and available for pickup at Glenshaw Valley Presbyterian Church, 1520 Butler Plank Road.
The cost is $15 for a meal that includes stuffed shells in marinara sauce, meatballs, salad, bread and biscotti.
Founded in 1946, the Century Club is a woman’s club that works to advance education for all. In May 2020, the group doled out 12 scholarships to Shaler Area seniors and hopes to repeat that in 2021, despite the challenges presented by the covid-19 pandemic.
“Our main fundraisers are a spring luncheon and fashion show, with fantastic baskets we sell tickets for, and a November holiday-themed gala, house tour and craft fair,” she said.
The luncheon and tour have already been canceled amid coronavirus concerns but club members are hoping to be able to host a socially distanced craft fair this fall.
“Time will tell on that,” Ball said.
The drive-thru dinners have boosted fundraising efforts in the meantime.
Members hosted two previous events and plan on an Oktoberfest-themed meal next month.
“We are trying to think outside the box to help replace the funds we lost,” Ball said.
