Driver charged with DUI in wrong-way crash on I-279

Pennsylvania State Police investigate after they say a Canonsburg man drove the wrong way and crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 279 in March 2023.

A Canonsburg man has been charged with driving under the influence after a wrong way crash in March.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, Jacob Alauzen, 27, was driving north in the southbound lanes near the Camp Horne Road Exit in Ohio Township around 2:30 a.m. March 24.

According to police, his vehicle hit a tractor-trailer head-on and then his vehicle went into the median.

Sean Palmer, 54, is listed in the police report as the driver of the tractor-trailer.

Both drivers were wearing lap and shoulder seat belts at the time of the accident and no injuries were reported.

Alauzen is charged with additional traffic violations, including reckless and careless driving.
