The driver of a tractor-trailer was hurt early Sunday when his rig plunged from Interstate 279 onto Mt. Nebo Road below in Allegheny County.
The crash was reported as a tractor-trailer rollover at about 3:30 a.m. in Ohio Township, according to state police.
The driver, whom authorities didn’t name, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
According to their preliminary investigation and eyewitness accounts, police said the tractor-trailer was headed south on I-279 when the driver lost control just north of Mt. Nebo Road. It hit a concrete barrier and left the road, with the cab and trailer rolling over and coming to rest on Mt. Nebo, police said.
Police are continuing their investigation.
Police and fire units from Ohio Township and Franklin Park assisted at the scene. McGann and Chester Towing Company responded to help with cleanup.
