EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler race returns to in-person event Nov. 7
The Pittsburgh Marathon may have been canceled as in-person event for 2021, but the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler is a go for Nov. 7.
Runners will have the option of showing up at the starting line or running virtually, organizers say.
The 2020 version of the race was a virtual only event. After the pandemic hit, runners were offered the chance to virtually complete the 10 mile run any time during the month of November or request a refund of their entry fee. Finisher’s medals were mailed to those who completed the race virtually.
“Last year’s event showed us how it is not only an opportunity for participants to get moving but it really is an opportunity to celebrate this city,” said Ellen Rossi, EQT Foundation President. “Building healthy communities is central to our mission, and we are excited to continue this with the fun spirit of this event that encourages everyone of all ages to get involved.”
Returning to the race are the Pittsburgh-themed miles which race organizers added to enhance the entertainment value of the event. Themes such as Pittsburgh sports, pickles and pierogies, Pittsburghese and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood have proven popular with runners.
“We heard from our runners in 2019 that the Pittsburgh themes were the most fun element of this event,” said Troy Schooley, CEO of P3R which runs the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler as well as the Pittsburgh Marathon, among other races. “Last year, we brought the celebration to our participants’ doors to continue the tradition, so we are very excited to see runners return to experiencing this together.”
Registration is now open for the 2021 EQT Pittsburgh 10 miler. For more information visit www.Pittsburgh10Miler.org.
