A former NFL player is accused of breaking into a North Versailles home and beating a woman in front of her 11-year-old son earlier this week.

Rontez Miles, 33, of Forest Hills, is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal mischief in connection with the alleged attack.

A criminal complaint filed in the case said North Versailles police responded to a 911 call at a woman’s home early Monday and noticed blood on the doorway and stairs. Police said the woman inside was bleeding profusely from her face, had a swollen lip and “her nose appeared to be contorted.”

The woman said Miles, a former NFL safety who attended Woodland Hills High School and California University of Pennsylvania, forced his way into her home through the locked back door and dragged her out of bed by her hair, according to the complaint. She said Miles forced her outside and began hitting her in the face and head. He also damaged her car, the complaint said.

The woman broke free and barricaded herself in her 11-year-old son’s room, according to the complaint. Police said they found more blood on the home’s stairs, bathroom and hallway.

A man who was staying at the home told police he woke to Miles hitting him and then grabbing the woman and dragging her outside, according to the complaint. He said he barricaded himself in the bedroom and called 911.

Neither the man nor the 11-year-old boy was injured, police said.

Miles had left the home by the time police arrived. He was not in custody as of Wednesday afternoon, court records show.
