Lower Valley residents will have three chances this week to learn more about a potential park and trail along the Allegheny River shoreline.

The Allegheny River Trail Park is proposed to add 1.5 miles of trail toward the City of Pittsburgh and acres of green space to connect the public to the riverfront, according to Susan Crookston, executive director of Aspinwall Riverfront Park.

The land stretches between Aspinwall and Sharpsburg.

Designs will be presented at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the O’Hara municipal building, 325 Fox Chapel Road, 10 a.m. Thursday at the Aspinwall municipal building, 217 Commercial Ave. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday during the Sharpsburg council meeting, 1611 Main Street.

A public tour of the site will be given at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone interested can meet at the former Silky’s Restaurant, 19th Street and River Road in Sharpsburg. The undeveloped construction site is not appropriate for children for people with physical challenges, Crookston said.
