Fox Chapel Area's Brent Brewster recognized as Positive Athlete
A Fox Chapel Area junior has been recognized as a Positive Athlete by the group for which former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward serves as ambassador.
Brent Brewster is a winner in the boys swimming and diving category of the 2019 Positive Athlete program, among athletes in other sports from North Allegheny, North Catholic and Hampton.
He will be lauded during a ceremony tonight at the Positive High School Athlete Awards at the Heinz History Center, downtown.
Brewster is in the running for a $5,000 scholarship sponsored by Mylan, and has already received a private tour of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
He will be recognized on the field at Tuesday’s Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Detroit Tigers.
Since it’s inception, Positive Athlete has awarded more than $250,000 in college scholarships to high school student athletes based on their character and performance.
Athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their communities or have an outstanding attitude are eligible.
