The public will get a look at the next phase of improvements to the Highland Park Bridge on Wednesday.

PennDOT officials will host a virtual meeting at 5 p.m. to discuss future work plans and traffic restrictions for the project, slated to begin in 2027.

The next round of work will include bridge preservation and reconstruction of the Washington Boulevard (Route 8) ramps, and bridge deck replacements at the interchange.

It follows work completed in 2023 on the southbound Route 28 ramp, the bridge ramp to Freeport Road and the Freeport Road ramps to Route 28. The first phase also included the addition of a merge lane for drivers coming from the bridge onto Route 28 southbound, as well as a dedicated exit lane to the bridge for northbound traffic.

The work is part of a larger $47.3 million project to address traffic congestion along Route 28 in the area of the Highland Park Bridge.

Lane restrictions on Route 28 and long-term ramp closures will continue throughout the next phase of the project.

The meeting will be held on Microsoft Teams at Bit.ly/HighlandParkBridgePublicMeeting. No registration is necessary.
