Reconstructed Brownshill Road Bridge in O'Hara on schedule to open soon
The newly constructed Brownshill Road Bridge in O’Hara is on track to open by the end of July.
Township Manager Julie Jakubec said crews are about 90 percent complete.
The bridge, which sits off Saxonburg Boulevard, closed April 1 for an expected 130 days so the structurally deficient span could be rebuilt.
Cost is $1.1 million.
Work has been dependent on the weather and despite the rain, the bridge is expected to open just before August.
Township Engineer Chuck Steinert said the new bridge will have two 11-foot lanes, wide enough for two vehicles.
Formerly made of steel and concrete, the new bridge is made with pre-stressed concrete beams.
Work also includes water line relocation and the realignment of the Brownshill Road and Saxonburg Boulevard intersection.
