Volunteers sought for Sharpsburg riverfront clean-up
Volunteers are invited to help clean the Sharpsburg riverfront Saturday at the James Sharp Landing.
The event is hosted by Allegheny CleanWays and will run 3 to 6 p.m. at 1301 Main Street.
Trash removal is part of a continuing series, Allegheny River Cleanup, happening along the waterways from Freeport to Millvale.
Interested volunteers can work from the shoreline or on the water, on the Allegheny CleanWays boat called the Rachel Carson, to collect litter and debris that is strewn along the riverfront.
Attendees must wear closed-toe shoes or boots and long pants.
Gloves, safety glasses and other materials will be provided. Clean-ups continue Sunday at Millvale Riverfront Park.
