Heinz Field will be the site of a multi-day covid vaccine clinic sponsored by Giant Eagle.

All online appointments have been booked for a multi-day mass covid vaccination clinic at Heinz Field in March.

Giant Eagle announced the clinic late Thursday afternoon, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Appointments could be made starting Friday morning for the clinic days: March 2-5, with a “significant number of appointments available each day.” Within hours, a Giant Eagle spokesman said, about 4,000 appointments were made through the chain’s scheduling tool for mass vaccination clinics.

Dick Roberts, the spokesman, said a “limited number” of appointments can be made by phone starting Monday at noon, for individuals without internet access. That phone number is 1-877-288-2070.

The clinic may be extended with additional appointments if more vaccine becomes available, he said.

“We are excited to partner with the Steelers organization to make ongoing vaccination opportunities accessible to neighborhoods surrounding the city by hosting this clinic at Heinz Field,” Jannah Jablonowski, a Giant Eagle spokeswoman, said in a statement. “Giant Eagle Pharmacy is committed to supporting the comprehensive care of our communities, and we are pleased to do our part to increase access to the covid-19 vaccine throughout Western Pennsylvania.”

The clinic is only open to people who fall into Pennsylvania’s Phase 1A, which includes health care workers, people 65 and older and people aged 16-64 with certain chronic health conditions.

Those who schedule an appointment are asked to arrive 15 minutes early at the PNC Champions Club, with valid identification and any medical insurance information.

Masks are required.
