Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank hires new CFO

An organization that’s played an integral part in making sure Western Pennsylvania residents have food during the pandemic has added to its management staff.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank has hired Gary Doyle to be its new Chief Financial Officer. Doyle replaces Bart Huchel who is retiring at the end of the month.

In his position, Doyle will oversee all finance, accounting, treasury and information technology at the Food Bank.

“We are thrilled to have Gary join our executive leadership team at the Food Bank,” said Lisa Scales, president and CEO of the Food Bank. “With more than 30 years of experience in operational and financial stewardship, and significant involvement in the nonprofit sector, Gary’s background aligns with our organizational needs and strategies.”

Doyle has an extensive accounting background.

He is a certified public accountant with a master’s in finance from Robert Morris University and a bachelor’s in accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University. Doyle has served on the board of directors for a number of Pittsburgh area nonprofits including Central Catholic High School, The Neighborhood Academy, The Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh and Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

“The Food Bank has a long history of guiding the generosity of the Pittsburgh region into programs that serve our neighbors during times of food insecurity,” Doyle said. “I am proud to join such a great organization and look forward to working with the employees and volunteers who support these efforts.”

The Food Bank was founded in 1980 and is a member of Feeding America, a domestic hunger-relief charity.
