Wine tasting at Shaler North Hills Library

Shaler North Hills Library is hosting a special fundraiser with local wine connoisseur John Eld as he heralds in the spring. A Taste of Spring Wine Tasting will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m. Eld is former chairman of the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Wine Society.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Shaler North Hills Library and is for adults 21 and over. Seating is limited to 30 people. Small bites of various foods will be provided.

The cost is $30 each or $50 per couple/pair. Payment is due upon registration. Payments may be made: In person at the library (cash, credit card or check made payable to Friends of SNHL); by mail to 1822 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA 15116, by credit card through the Library’s PAYPAL account on the website — indicate Wine Tasting in the “special instructions to seller” field.

• The library is hosting a free Spring Concert by “Concordance” of The Pittsburgh Recorder Society on Saturday, May 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring your mother, grandmother, sister, or aunt to celebrate Mother’s Day. The group plays music from the Baroque and Renaissance periods as well as modern compositions.

You will also learn about the different recorders — sopranos, altos, tenors, bases, contra-bases — and what they sound like and how they work together.

Registration is encouraged but not required. Register online at www.shaler library.org
