In brief: AARP meeting, live nativity and more in the North Hills

Trinity Lutheran Church
Trinity Lutheran Church, 2500 Brandt School Road in Franklin Park, is conducting its annual Live Nativity on Dec. 18. Performances are at 4:30 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m., including singing Christmas carols. This is an annual tradition for all the community to attend. Performances are followed by hot cocoa, cookies and live holiday music performed by local high school students in the Parish Hall.
Additionally, the church is presenting its annual Christmas Cantata “And Glory Shone Around” at worship services on December 18 at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., featuring Trinity’s Festival Choir under the direction of Amy Kapp, Minister of Music. All members of the community are invited to attend.
AARP
AARP 595 welcomes new members and guests to its meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. at Hampton Presbyterian Church 2842 E. Hardies Road. Join us for great fellowship, luncheons, entertainment and trips. The next meeting is Jan. 3 and we will play bingo. Dues are $7/year.
Rotary scholarships
The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program has scholarships available for the 2022-2023 academic year. In recent years, at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each have been awarded. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver Counties are eligible to apply.
Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.
Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay, which highlights their community/school service, as part of the application submission.
