BP artist exhibits work
Bethel Park fine artist Joe Winkler will show more than 20 original works, including many new oil paintings to be displayed for the first time, in a solo exhibit scheduled from Oct. 1-31 in the main gallery at Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
South Arts Pittsburgh show
South Arts Pittsburgh is holding an art show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road.
Featured is a variety of original framed artwork and photography by local artists. Cards and matted prints also are available. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
The Bethel Park Historical Society will have an open house from noon to 3 p.m. that includes tours of the schoolhouse. The event coincides with the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company open house across Park Avenue.
South Arts will have a raffle fundraiser, and a percentage of all art sales will go to the historical society for their continued improvements to the schoolhouse.
Lions host fish fry
Bethel Park Lions Club’s fall fish fry is from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Lions Park, 5757 Irishtown Road.
No tickets will be sold in advance. Eat at the park or receive drive-through takeout. Food will be served until it runs out.
Adult dinners are $15: fried or baked fish (sandwich or without the bun) or deep-fried butterfly shrimp, french fries or macaroni and cheese, coleslaw and beverage. An order of five shrimp is $11. A meal of hot dog, chips and beverage is $5.
A limited menu will be served for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A meal of fried fish (sandwich or without the bun) or deep-fried butterfly shrimp, french fries, coleslaw and beverage is $15.
Boos and Bites debuts
Boos and Bites, Bethel Park’s first wine, cider and spirits festival, is scheduled for Oct 28.
The Halloween-themed event at Bethel Park Community Center includes a costume contest, photo booth, live music from Day One and more.
Tickets include admission to the event and a souvenir glass. Discounted tickets are available for designated drivers and other alcohol-free individuals.
Two sessions are available, from 3 to 5 and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests can select a limited-access VIP ticket that includes access for the entirety of the event, a special reserved room and light appetizers.
The festival is a tasting-only event. Bottles may be purchased from vendors and consumed off site. Participants must be 21 with valid proof of age provided at the event for admittance

Allegheny Land Trust programs
The Bethel Park Historical Society is supporting an event series with Allegheny Land Trust to benefit Bethel Park residents. Programs are at the historical society headquarters, 2600 South Park Road, except where indicated:

Tree Tenders course
Tree Tenders is a course from Tree Pittsburgh and the Bethel Park Shade Tree Commission that teaches all about trees and how to become an advocate for them.

Women’s Bible study
South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park, is offering Women’s Evening Bible Study at 7 p.m. the first and third Fridays of each month, beginning Oct. 6.

Craft show in South Park
South Park Women’s Club’s 29th annual craft show is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at Broughton Fire Hall, 1030 Cochrans Mill Road.
More than 50 skilled crafters will be featured, offering a variety of items. In addition, there will be a bake sale, auction, refreshments and raffles.
