Winter Blast coming to Bridgeville

Bridgeville’s Winter Blast is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8 at Triangle Park, 431 Station St.

Featured will the the lighting of the Christmas tree with Santa and Mrs. Claus to kick off the holiday season.

Christmas Time in Collier

Christmas Time in Collier is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 at the township community center, 5 Lobaugh St.

Featured are a holiday craft show, pictures with Santa Claus, horse and carriage rides, and light refreshments. Rides are first-come, first-served. Please visit the registration table at the beginning of the event to reserve a free time slot.

Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6 o’clock.

College Club meets at Nevillewood

The College Club of Carnegie will meet Dec. 2 at the Club at Nevillewood, 1000 Nevillewood Drive, Collier.

A social at 11:30 a.m. is followed by lunch at noon. A Christmas party will feature a gift exchange. Raffle baskets and 50-50 ticket raffle to benefit the club’s Scholarship Fund will be available.

Women with post-secondary degrees are invited to call Therese Condit, membership chairperson, at 412-279-4458 for further information.

Toys for Tots collection in Scott

Scott Township is collecting for the Toys for Tots drive.

Toys can be dropped off at the township administrative offices, 301 Lindsay Road, second floor, during regular business hours. You may also order toys through Amazon and have them delivered to the offices.

The final day for collections is Dec. 12. For more information, contact the drive organizer, Lisha Mihalko. The administrative number is 412-276-5300.

Collier hosts Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 10 at the Collier Community Center, 5 Lobaugh St.

Enjoy breakfast and crafts, and have your picture taken with Santa.

Cost is $8 for community center members and $10 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Call 724-693-0780 or visit colliertownship.net for more information.

Chartiers Valley featured on ‘KD Quiz’

You can watch the Chartiers Valley Quiz Bowl team compete on KDKA’s “KD Quiz” show at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 25.

The team is made up of seniors Gwen Horzempa, Rhi Molnar and Rachel White, along with alternates Anisha Pai, Camryn Welsh and junior Sydney Trainor, and is coached by Kristen Steen. The students compete against teams from Apollo-Ridge and New Castle.

KDKA chief meteorologist Ray Petlin hosts “KD Quiz,” formerly “Hometown High Q,” which features three schools competing against one another. Students must answer questions from various general high school curriculum subject areas. More than 80 schools from across the Pittsburgh region compete on the show every year. The top nine schools in the competition are awarded educational grants.
