Passes on sale for Crawford Pool

Pool passes are available to purchase for the Crawford Pool.

Full season family or individual passes can be purchased.

Multiday passes also will be for sale for residents and nonresidents. There will be the option to purchase three-, five- or 10-day passes online. Multiday passes will be for sale May 1. The pool season starts May 29.

Easter services

The Northmont United Presbyterian Church announced its Holy Week schedule:

• Palm Sunday: The service will be recorded and available online at 11 a.m. March 28. There also will be a parking lot service held at the same time. Participants are encouraged to attend either service or both. The content will be the same for both services.

• Maundy Thursday/Good Friday: There will be a combined virtual service. This service will be live at 7 p.m. April 1. The recorded version will be available after the service.

• Easter: The service will be recorded and available online at 11 a.m. April 4. There also will be a parking lot service held at the same time. Participants are encouraged to attend either service or both. The content will be the same for both services.

The Hampton Presbyterian Church announced its Holy Week schedule:

• Palm Sunday: There will be two services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. March 28. Remember to bring your Fish Bank for the One Great Hour of Sharing.

• Maundy Thursday: The church will not host a soup supper April 1. Families are encouraged to gather around their family table at home with a bowl of Lenten Bean Soup and homemade bread.

• Good Friday: There will be an hourly prayer vigil April 2 and continuing until 9 a.m. April 3. There will be a worship service at 7:30 p.m.

• Easter Sunday: There will be three in-person worship sessions and one virtual meditation April 4. A recording of the Easter Service will be avilable for later viewing, and there will be a brief virtual service available Easter morning.

The in-person services will be: Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., located at the firepit, and the traditional Easter Worship services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Dyngus Day Dash 5K race on tap for April 10

The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Kosciuszko is hosting the inaugural Dyngus Day Dash 5K at North Park on April 10.

All money raised at the race will be used to support the Pittsburgh community through student scholarships and public events.

Glenshaw Valley spring craft show slated

The Women’s Association of Glenshaw Valley will have its spring craft show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 20. There will be crafters, a chance auction, a bake sale and great food.

EMS subscription drive underway

Shaler Hampton EMS has opened its 2021 subscription drive.

Residents of Etna, Hampton and Shaler will be mailed a fundraiser form in coming weeks. People interested in donating also can visit shalerhamptonems.org to have their membership immediately activated or renewed.

Book sale by appointment

The Friends of Shaler North Hills Library book sale runs through April 17 by appointment only. Each appointment is 90 minutes.

Children’s books will not be sold at this time, but there are youth-focused DVDs and games and puzzles.

The shelves will be restocked as donations come in. This is a fundraiser for the Shaler North Hills Library.

Prices are $1 for hardback books and DVDs, 50 cents for small paperbacks, $1.25 for video games and $2 for games and puzzles.

Pierogi food truck to be at library on Fridays

Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck will be at the Shaler North Hills Library on Fridays through April 9.

The vendor will be in the front parking lot from noon to 6 p.m. The menu includes pierogis, stuffed cabbage and haluski.

Part of the proceeds benefit the library.

Free tax prep available

Free tax prep is available through the North Hills Community Outreach.

This is a seasonal program that helps low-income households who earn less than $57,000. The service is available through April 14.

A fully virtual option through an IRS-approved website can be accessed at getyourrefund.org/nhco.

Limited contact options are available in Millvale with an appointment.

Scholarships available to SSA seniors

Applications are available for scholarships from the Glenshaw Century Club for Shaler Area High School seniors.

Applications are available in the guidance office or by sending an email to glenshawcenturyclubinc@gmail.com.

Applications are due by March 19.

Nonperishable items needed for food drive

Donations of nonperishable food items for the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative are accepted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 66 Grant Ave.

The food program provides weekend meals to more than 100 children in kindergarten through eighth grade, dishing out easy-to-prep meals and single-serving snacks to ensure nutrition isn’t missed when kids are away from the classroom.

Financial donations can be made payable to Shaler Area School District with “Backpack Initiative” in the memo line and mailed to 1800 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116.

Women’s Business Network meetings set

The Cranberry Chapter of the Women’s Business Network meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30 a.m. in Cranberry United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Rochester Road, Cranberry.
