Lifetime Achievement Award
Long-time South Park resident and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Realtor Lori Maffeo was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented by the Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh and given to agents with 25 years in the real estate industry.
While 25 years is quite a milestone in any profession, Maffeo is most proud of the Berkshire Hathaway Chairman’s Circle Gold award she received as one of the top 2% agents nationally.
Harmony Singers Christmas show
Mark your calendars for 7:70 p.m. Dec. 10 and 3 p.m. Dec.12 for The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh’s Christmas show at Brightwood Christian Church. The church is located at 5044 W. Library Ave. in Bethel Park.
The Harmony Singers have been making cultural contributions to, and entertaining the South Hills of Pittsburgh for more than 50 years. Over time the group has changed, but it still tries to incorporate some of the original “verity show” type numbers into most of their shows.
Director is Cynthia Pratt is a professional vocalist herself, but her conducting talent has led her to conduct both an orchestra and choir at the Carnegie Music Hall in New York City. She has been the director with the Harmony singers for 19 years.
This year’s Christmas show will include a mix of old standards, some fun and even ”wacky” new editions.

Art Guild meeting
Bethel Park Art Guild’s last meeting of the year will take place at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Bethel Park Community Center. Artist Vicki Sawyer will be the guest speaker. Sawyer wants her paintings to evoke feelings of, “peace, joy and even humor” – and they do.
Sawyer grew up in a two-generational household, located on her grandfather’s farm, near Pittsburgh. She received her art degree at Penn State University. Her degree led her to graphic design and professional mural painting. She painted hundreds of murals featuring birds, insects, plants and grasses. These were things she had learned to appreciate from her parents’ and grandfather’s teachings during her childhood.
Over the last 15 years, she has moved from mural painting to canvas paintings of the natural world. Now with a career as a fine art painter, her library has grown to more than 2,500 paintings. Her work has been exhibited and received numerous recognitions all over the eastern United States.
