Brunch with Santa

Santa will be landing his sleigh at the Richland Township VFD on Dec. 4. There will be a breakfast buffet, photo with Santa, crafts, and more. The buffet will include french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, danish, and beverages. Cost is $20 per person with kids under age 2 free. Two seating choicse are available: 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Registration is required and the form can be printed online at richland.pa.us. It must be returned with payment to Richland Parks & Rec, 4019 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044 by Nov. 30. For more information, contact Melissa Williams at 724-443-5921 or mwilliams@richland.pa.us.

Letters from Santa

Pine-Richland High School choral students are again offering Letters from Santa to children of all ages. For a $5 donation, choral students will personalize and mail a letter from Santa to your child, including details provided by you. To order, please email Carolyn King at Cammie22@hotmail.com for an order form. Orders must be received by mail on or before Dec. 7.

Leaf collection

Richland Township’s third and final leaf collection will be Nov. 30 or Dec. 2 (depending on residents’ normal trash collection day). All bags must be placed outside prior to 6 a.m. the day of pickup. Leaves must be in biodegradable bags (no plastic) and limited to 40 pounds.

One Night in Bethlehem

On Dec. 10, Sts. Martha and Mary Parish will host the annual “One Night in Bethlehem” family Christmas event from 6-8 p.m. at the St. Catherine of Sweden social hall on Wildwood Road. Children ages 2 through 10 are invited to participate in activities that include storytelling, crafts, games and a birthday party for Jesus. The evening concludes with an outdoor living nativity scene, complete with Biblical characters and live animals. Tickets, limited to the first 150 children, are $8/child (children under 2 admitted at no charge) and can be purchased at the parish office or through the parish website beginning Nov. 14. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Adult admission is free with a donation of a baby item for Lifeline of Southwestern PA. Free preschool

Early Edge Preschool in Gibsonia is offering Pre-K Counts, a grant-funded program through Pennsylvania. It is a free pre-kindergarten program designed for children that turn 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1 of that particular school year. Pre-K Counts is designed to be an educational, early childhood program that focuses on building the social, emotional and cognitive skills of children to prepare them for kindergarten. Families must meet the income guidelines (a family of 4 can earn up to $83,250) and be a resident of Pennsylvania to apply. Space is limited. Adopt a senior

Concordia Lutheran Ministries has again opened its Adopt-A-Resident Program to the community.

Individuals, businesses or congregations may call the facility of their choice to “adopt” a resident and give him or her Christmas gifts. Gift suggestions include a sweatshirt, sweatpants, door wreath, stamps and stationery, digital clocks with large numbers, hair salon gift certificates, slippers and slipper socks and throws or blankets.
