Library Halloween celebration

Come to the library 5-6 p.m. Oct. 27 for outdoor Halloween fun. There will be trick-or-treating, spooky take-home crafts and a costume parade. This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. In case of rain, it will be hosted inside the library. This program is for children of all ages, and registration is required. Pumpkin roll sale

Salem Church is taking orders for its annual homemade pumpkin roll sale. Rolls are handmade by church members and can be frozen for serving or gifting during the holidays. Pre-order by Oct. 28 and pick up beginning Nov. 9. Each roll contains 12-15 servings and is $16. Gluten-free rolls are $20 each. Traveling glass recycling bin

Pennsylvania Resources Council’s traveling glass recycling bin will be at North Park from Oct. 22-27, in the swimming pool parking lot. Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required). Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site. For more information, visit prc.org/glass.

Rotary scholarship

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program announces the availability of scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. In recent years, Rotary has awarded at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver Counties are eligible to apply. Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay that highlights their community/school service as part of the application submission.

Complete application and criteria materials, including application deadline, are available on the Rotary District 7305 website, scholarship link, or from area high school counselors.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is back from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 22. The event will be located in the Pine Community Park on the Pearce Mill Road entrance side. There will be a bounce house, pumpkin decorating, spooky games, potato sack races and more. B’s Sip of Summer truck will sell warm fall drinks like hot chocolate and hot apple cider. AARP

AARP 595 welcomes new members and guests to its meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2842 E. Hardies Road. Join us for great fellowship, luncheons, entertainment and trips. Next meeting is Nov. 1. Entertainment will be “Hollywood Homicides” by Tom Madden. Dues are $7/year.
