Plenty of activity is taking place this summer within the 105 acres of Pine Community Park.
The township is in the process of installing a 300-seat grandstand with a press box at the Pine Athletic Complex. The unit will be elevated and have an Americans With Disabilities Act-accessible ramp and seating locations.
Once the grandstand is completed, final electrical work supply power to new light poles, scoreboards and the press box.
At the Pine Splash Pad, a new water fountain and water bottle filler was installed at the Splash Pad to allow people to quench their thirst on hot summer days. The splash pad does have a concession stand available for drinks and treats, but now you can fill your bottles or get a drink anytime.
The splash pad will host an Island Spectacular from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 as a follow-up event to the Mermaid Spectacular in June. Attendees will meet an island princess, participate in island crafts, play at the splash pad and enjoy a free Movies in the Park event afterward, with “Surf’s Up” starting a 9.
