The Steel Curtain at Kennywood in West Mifflin is open.

The Steel Curtain is up and running again alongside the Thunderbolt after a temporary closure at the beginning of the summer, park officials said Thursday.

“We have appreciated our guests’ patience while we worked closely with the ride’s manufacturer on additional maintenance for this one of a kind ride,” Kennywood officials said in a statement.

On June 28, Kennywood announced that both rollercoasters were closed for maintenance. No other details were released.

The Thunderbolt reopened earlier this month, officials said. The Steel Curtain reopened Thursday.

The Thunderbolt, originally The Pippin, debuted in 1924. It was named the Thunderbolt in 1968 after it was remodeled. The Steel Curtain made its first run in July 2019.
