One person was killed and a second person was hurt in a shooting early Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Homewood North neighborhood.

Two men have been charged with homicide in connection with a fatal shooting early Tuesday in Homewood North.

Shawn Collins, 54, of Pittsburgh, and Lavelle Johnson, 33, of Braddock, are awaiting arraignment in connection with the death of Johnny Ray Wilson. His age was not listed in court papers.

Wilson was fatally shot around 2 a.m. on Monticello Street outside his vehicle.

Police said they followed a blood trail from the shooting scene to a nearby home where they reported finding a witness who said Johnson and Collins left the house with guns just before shots were heard outside. Afterwards, Johnson came back inside with a gunshot wound and asked Collins to drive him to a hospital, according to court papers.

Collins told investigators he and Johnson were going to rob Wilson. Police said Wilson had gunshot wounds to the neck, torso and extremities. Johnson was taken into surgery after arriving at a hospital. He was in critical but stable condition, police said Tuesday.

A photograph released by police showed crime scene tape blocking off a residential street and several evidence markers in the road.

In addition to homicide, the suspects are charged with conspiracy, robbery and related offenses. They did not have attorneys listed in online court records.
